Homework This Weekend

The kids have one or two assignments to finish this week. The first is to finish up their writing draft. The draft needs to be at least one full page long, make sense, and tell a compelling story (from a second grade writer). A few of the kids are creating other sorts of texts (poems, comics, etc). They're requirements are a bit different but they've already discussed this with me and they should know what they need. More than half the class are finished with this already and won't be bringing this home.

The second assignment is to plan a day from this weekend with an adult. Pick one day from this weekend and plan out the times. Please be general and round everything to the nearest 30 minutes or hour, so, for example, waking up, brushing teeth, showering, eating, and breakfast, could be listed as "waking up" from 7:00 to 7:30. Everyone should have 3.5 pieces of paper for the assignment. The first  is a chart to fill out with the name of activities, start and finish times, and durations. The other two pieces of paper need to be cut out and glued to form a long time line. This will be filled up with "hops" that match the start and finish times from the chart.

The half sheet of paper is meant to be a reflection for the adult(s) who help with the assignment. If you are able to, please answer the three questions with as much detail as you are willing/able to do and send it back with your child.
