Hey Everyone,
Thanks so much to everyone who was able to make it to our Gathering last week or watch the video with your child at home. They did such a fantastic job and I know they were excited to be featured as the class of the week. For those of you who are new to this structure at CFI, being the class of the week provides the kids opportunities to:
* Perform the school's Morning Announcements over the intercom (or Google Meet) each day
* Create a "Thought for the Week" for the school (ours was What Questions Did You Ask Today?)
* Host a learning celebration on Friday afternoon highlighting what they've been learning recently
Next week will be another opportunity to share out their learning at our first Curriculum Night of the year. Under normal circumstances, this is in-classroom event where the kids sing songs, teach you all about something we've been learning (in greater detail than in Gathering) and then perform a collaborative engagement with you (sharing work, playing a math game, continuing work on a project, etc). Not surprisingly, this year our Curriculum Nights are virtual. Next Thursday we'll all join together at 7:15pm (via Google Meet) to view videos the kids have created to show you our classroom as well as share some research facts from their recently launched Expert (research) Projects. We can't wait to see you there!
Lastly, here's rundown of what we've been learning:
Reading - Research Skills (determining importance, synthesizing information, summarizing)
Writing - Cursive (almost finished with the final letters)
Math - Rounding (to the nearest 10 and 100)
Science - Magnets (attraction, repulsion, polarity)
