The only homework this week is nightly reading and the log. The reading log is a little different this week. In addition to a three-sentence summary the kids are also writing a one-sentence response to their books. Our work in reading this week is to think about the internal conversations we have in our minds as we read a text. This might be a question, prediction, connection, emotional response, etc. As we read books together in class we are stopping and sharing these thoughts. As the week progresses we'll use these reactions to start conversations about literature as well as write about our thinking. On the reading log I'm asking them to share one response from their independent reading.
