| This is a photo of my youngest son, Ty, taken during our 9-day backpacking trip in Virginia this summer. It was a great way to decompress from a wonderfully busy year. |
Hey everyone, welcome to the class blog! This is the space where you will find nearly everything you'll need over the course of the next two years. I post newsletters here. I provide photos from our class inquiries and adventures. I detail our weekly homework and due dates. I link articles and videos the kids need (or want) to access from home. Everything.
So please bookmark this site to your device and try to get into the habit of checking in. I generally post homework on either Monday or Tuesday and the newsletter on Thursday or Friday. The kids also post near-daily updates to let you know what they're up to. Communication is key to a successful and stress-free schooling experience and our class blog will serve as the primary source of this work.
Invitation to Visit the Classroom
Over the next few weeks I will be in meetings at school as well as other sites within the district. This time is spent reconnecting as a faculty, preparing for year-long professional growth and development, and going over LOTS of "nuts and bolts" stuff that can, at times, elicit yawns from the captive audience (namely, me).
When not in meetings I will be working in the classroom to set up furniture, get materials into place, label files and folders, plan for our first week and a half together, and organize a few spaces that have been neglected. If you and/or your child would like to stop by at any point while I'm doing this to say hello, take a look around, or even help please feel free do so. You could even drop your child off for an hour or so if you have other errands to run. I'll keep them busy!
I don't know my exact schedule just yet but if you email me I can offer you more specifics once I receive them. I know for some kids stopping in, even for a few minutes, really helps calm their nerves on that first morning back. I'm happy to help in any way I can. Just let me know.

Thanks for meeting with us last night. Testing out the blog capabilities.
