Day One: A Big Success!

I really feel like things went so smoothly today. There were huge smiles when friends reunited and a lot of great energy throughout the day. The first few days can be awkward at times as more time is spent unpacking materials, revisiting the classroom set-up, and thinking together about how we want to maintain our classroom. That said, the kids spent a good amount of today working alongside friends new and old and having a wonderful time. I hope you hear stories tonight!

We have three new students who have joined us this year. I will tell you more about them in a future email (I do not post identifying information about the kids on the blog since this is a public space). But I can tell you the class was very excited to meet them and help them feel at home. I was reminded even more of the kindness in our room when a few of the kids needed new folders and a handful of people volunteered to give away one of their own.

Here are a few pictures from our day...

This is our MAT, Mrs. Schumamacher. You'll hear more about her in the coming weeks.

On the left is our new reading coach, Mrs. Waugh. She just returned from teaching
abroad in Vietnam and Hong Kong. Before that she was one of the original teachers
at CFI "back in the day."
