Welcome to Day 5 of “Schooling at Home.” These assignments
in the packet are waaaaay different than what you are used to doing in the
classroom, I know. Thanks so much for toughing it out and doing your very best.
My hope is that next week you might be able to begin using your Chromebook so
we can video chat and I can start helping you do fun projects and investigations
from home. That'll be more enjoyable for you and a lot easier on your parents!
Being stuck at home is a strange experience. This past week has reminded me yet again how much I love spending
time with you all –learning from one another, singing songs, sharing books, joking around, playing games, talking about any- and everything. I miss that. I miss you.
Hopefully we’ll get to return at some point before the end
of the school year. If not, we’ll find new ways to connect. That’s for sure!
And now, yesterday's pics...

Looks like Aidan and Nic have been doing some "bounce" science with their dad.

Tiffany and Jennifer played one of my favorite games - Scrabble.

Jonah grabbed some coins to help him figure out the math. Smart idea!

Wait, what?! Driving your parents truck on a dirt road was NOT in the packet. I sure wish we could get together for Morning Meeting to hear this story because I know it's a good one!
Keep sending me pics :)
*****
Today is Day 5 of your Home School work. Here are a few
notes to help you get started.
Writing - Today you are going to write about your silent reading book for me. Spend 5-6 sentences telling me what's been happening in the book. Then tell me about what you've been noticing and thinking as you read. Lastly, make a prediction of two as to what you think will happen later in the book.
Math - Your short warm-up pieces (Math 4 Today and the Word Problem of the Day) deal with fractions and basic computation. Your "Must Do" sheet is place value. This one will probably be a little quicker than some of the others.
Science - Today you'll be adding heat to a solid to see what happens. No, don't use the stove! Read the directions carefully so you know just what to do. And have fun!
Social Studies - Same as the other days, choose something from that paper to try today. As I've mentioned before, you could also read a news article or write about a piece of news you've heard lately and share it with your parents.
