Rocks and Minerals!

On Monday we started our study of rocks and minerals. We started a class list of things that we think are made out of rocks and minerals. We read A Rock is Lively, a book that told us about different rocks and what they are made of. We learned that rocks can be very helpful in many different ways. For example, some birds swallow little rocks to help them digest their food.

Today, we are going to walk around the outside of the school to investigate the materials used to build the school. Hopefully, we will find at least three more things to add to our list. Also, during morning meeting Mrs. Jones shared an amethyst geode. It was really pretty! We are really excited to continue investigating rocks and minerals to learn how we use them in our world today.
